BREAKING NEWS:  KCRHA ADDS FUNDING FOR TINY HOME VILLAGES

Yesterday the King County Regional Homeless Authority (RHA) revised their $12 billion Five Year Plan.  Money for tiny home villages was included for the first time in this plan.  Sound Foundations NW has already emailed RHA for further details for a Request for Proposal (RFP).  We are planning on asking for the cost of materials for 100 homes.

Tiny homes are efficient, easy to build, and get our homeless neighbors off the streets faster.

FAN MAIL

Sometimes we share emails with you just to remind you what our mission is all about.  This email from a first time group build summed it up.

Thank you for the opportunity to help share of ourselves to make a difference.  While small in the big picture, we know that many hands make the work better.  This was a tremendous experience for us not only to help, but to learn more and be able to have conversations with others to spread the word of ‘how to help’ and also to share how these Tiny Homes are a huge stepping-stone to a better life – and, the statistics of this program demonstrate the positive impact it has on helping those who have found themselves homeless with a way to get out of it.

This program you run is a ‘total package’ except when politics get in the way. Grrrr…

Thank you for teaching us how to build a Tiny Home, pointing out the depth of support by many businesses and others, and sharing how important a Tiny Home is as a first step towards independence.

We look forward to coming back again.”

We couldn’t have said it better.  Thanks.

DID YOU KNOW?

In the first 18 months while building at Camp Second Chance, Sound Foundations NW built 42 homes.  Today we celebrated building “Catalyst”, our 350th home.  That means that we have built over 300 homes in the past 15 months!  What an accomplishment!!  Thanks to all of you who put a hand or a dollar on a home.
