KING COUNTY COUNCIL MEMBER ZAHILY VISITS THE HOPE FACTORY

.

………………………………………………………“G” practicing the nail gun.

We were honored to have CM Garmay Zahily build with us on Thursday.  “G” got to tilt up walls, use a nail gun, and do the “Mississippi”.

ONE SEATTLE DAY OF SERVICE

.

We had a great One Day of Service with Fire Chief Harold Scoggins and fifteen of his closest friends from the Seattle Fire Department.  Also joining in the festivities was our buddy Sally Bagshaw, Seattle Council Member (and good friend) Teresa Mosqueda, and Marco Lowe, Chief Operating Officer for the City of Seattle.  We built the “O” home and named it, what else, “One Day of Service”.

Chief Scoggins names the home.

TZU CHI DONATES TIME AND MONEY

.

Tzu Chi Seattle, a Buddhist service organization, has had a small group of crew members volunteering every Saturday for the past few months.  They made an agreement with their regional office that after they donate 175 hours (the amount of time that it takes to build one home), the regional office will donate the cost of one tiny home, or $4300.  That happened this past Sunday.  Lots of photos, hugs, pats on the back, and smiles abound.

WE NOW HAVE A SECOND SKY MOBILE

.

…………………………………………………………..Tom and David

We now have a second Skymobile thanks mostly to Tom and David and a little help (and lots of advice!) from several of our volunteers.  A second Skymobile will make it safer and easier to work on the roof.  Thanks guys!

Why getting our homeless neighbors off the streets is so important.

DAVE’S MISSION

Dave Gamrath, who winters in Tucson, AZ and spends the rest of the year in Seattle, wrote a very interesting article in their local newspaper.  Here is the link:
